It's fair to say there's been quite a few crises doing the rounds recently. What many people may not consider when the next crisis hits the news, and the discourse centres the people impacted by the crisis, are the people trying to lead through the crisis, and bring it under control.
Recent years have shown a rising trend of anti-leadership rhetoric, especially on social media, with the attitude being that no one actually needs leadership, people are completely capable of solving every problem they could ever encounter independently, business leaders don't actually do any work, but just take money from hard working people, and deliberately make life harder for people who are already struggling more than enough. This attitude is driven by concepts such as the wisdom of crowds, which are increasingly being not so much debunked, but placed back in their original contexts - for example, that it is not that any crowd will have greater 'wisdom' than an individual leader about any situation, but that a well-educated crowd of relevant, diverse experts will be better informed, and able to offer more insight than an individual expert.
Sometimes, leaders make the wrong choices. Sometimes, they find themselves having to lead through situations they've never encountered before, and for which there is no guidance. Everyone else is allowed to be 'bad' at things without being assumed to not deserve the role they hold; leaders learning the ropes, making mistakes, or acknowledging they are uncertain, however, immediately triggers rhetoric about how leaders are a waste of time, that they are draining money from the frontlines of their services, that they are the cause of all of the challenges "everyone else" is facing.
At The Productive Pessimist, we know leaders are also facing challenges, often receiving very little support while they are expected to support entire teams - and sometimes entire sectors - through increasingly challenging and unpredictable times.
That's why we're offering crisis mentorship, with sessions - which we consider to run from the moment you reach out to us, until the crisis you initially reached out from is resolved - for just £25.00.
We can provide mentorship for crisis leaders remotely, or in person for leaders in Norwich, Lowestoft, Beccles, or Great Yarmouth, UK.
Crisis mentorship isn't about telling you how to lead through crisis. During a crisis mentorship, we'll cover:
. How you, as a leader, are feeling, and how to unlock the skills, confidence, and capability you have to maximum effect.
. How to prioritise the elements of challenge the crisis is presenting you with.
. How to handle your teams' responses and criticism.
. How to keep the crisis on your work plate, and avoid it becoming a personal crisis.
. How to prepare for the calm after the crisis.
